About Us

Rainbow Valley Farm has been a cornerstone of sustainable agriculture since 1988, when founders Trish Allen and Joe Polaischer transformed 50 acres of rundown farmland into a world-renowned permaculture center. Under their stewardship, the farm became an international destination for those seeking to learn about sustainable farming practices, while also serving as a supplier of organic produce to the Matakana Village Farmers Market, which they helped establish.

The farm was featured on Country Calendar in 2006:

Following Joe's passing in 2008, the farm entered a new chapter as it passed through several owners. Today, Rainbow Valley Farm is proudly owned by Stephanie Fink, Richard Legg, Matthew Luxon, and Waveney Warth. This dedicated team is committed to honoring the farm's legacy while reinvigorating its role as a permaculture sanctuary, with a strong focus on sustainability and conservation.

In a testament to the farm's enduring spirit, December 2024 marked a significant milestone as Rainbow Valley Farm returned to its roots at the Matakana Farmers Market, bringing the story full circle. We continue to work tirelessly in the market garden, ensuring that the farm's tradition of sustainable agriculture lives on for future generations.
